Welcome friends!

Peace be with you!

For those that are not familiar with this site, I wanted to take a moment to let you know what you will find here.

C.S. Lewis once wrote, “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”  On this site, I will seek to share my thoughts on the topic of Christianity, which I have recognized to be of infinite importance.

Please note that I was raised Catholic but spent most of my adult life attending non-denominational, evangelical Christian churches.  In 2014, my extensive journey in the faith led me back to the Catholic Church.  I do not say this to suggest my time spent outside the Catholic Church was time wasted.  In fact, I think it was quite the opposite.  I believe the time I spent in Protestant congregations helped me grow enormously in my faith.  I also believe the time I spent outside of the Catholic Church has provided me with an enhanced perspective in returning to the Catholic tradition.  It is that perspective that I hope to share with all Christians who decide to spend time here.

This site has a number of sections to help explore the mystery of Christianity and how Christians can meaningfully live out their earthly lives.  My hope is not to be original but to echo the thoughts and teachings of the great theological giants of the Catholic tradition – both those who have gone before us and those who live among us today.

Along with the great saints like Augustine, Ignatius, Cyril, Ambrose, Thomas Aquinas, and St. Thèrése of Lisieux, and modern theological masters like Bishop Robert Barron, Brant Pitre, NT Wright and Scott Hahn, I hope what you will find here is consistent with their ultimate goal.  That is, to lift up Jesus Christ as not just one prophet or teacher among many, but as the very person of God who came to offer himself as the sacrifice that would bring humanity back into intimate communion with God.  As with all these other great teachers of the Christian faith, my unequivocal hope is to draw people to Jesus and place focus on him, the one who is worthy of such attention.

My hope and my prayer is that everything shared here is done in a spirit of love and that everything we discuss is done with the goal of coming into a greater understanding of Christ and how to live out our faith together.  I believe if we really understood the revelation Paul had regarding the “Body of Christ” and lived it out together as Christians, the entire world would be dramatically changed in a positive way.

In Him,

Christopher Cavalier
